Cardiac VR Digital Imaging – Immersive Ultrasound Simulation Teaching System Based on Micro-Metaverse Scenarios

Traditionally, ultrasound training requires practice on mannequins or live models, which involves high setup costs—often several million NT dollars.

By leveraging digital technology and virtual reality/extended reality (VR/ER), we developed a realistic ultrasound simulation training system.

This solution overcomes the limitations of traditional simulators—using mannequins or peer modeling—and resolves issues of time, location, space, and scheduling.

Trainees can quickly become familiar with probe handling (hands-on), achieving the goal of mastering ultrasound operation.

(a.) This device uses a head-mounted display to provide an immersive learning environment, allowing users to experience hands-on practice by holding a probe within the simulated scenario using a handheld controller.
(b.) There is no need for a specific mannequin; any flat object can serve as a model.
(c.) Through extended reality (XR) technology, learners can engage in immersive and repetitive training.

(a.) In the XR environment, users can visualize the anatomical positions of various human organs.
(b.) Real-time ultrasound images of different cross-sections can be viewed.
(c.) With the aid of positioning markers, users can learn the proper placement of the handheld probe on the human body.
